Hi there, I'm Chris Coetzee.
I develop software in the cruise and travel industry. I'm trying to get back into developing free (as in freedom) open source software, as well as side projects, but at this point in my life it is going a bit slow.
Topics in programming I find interesting
- Software engineering practices
- Legacy system maintenance techniques
- Event-source, event-driven architecture
- The application infrastructure & architecture spectra between monolith and microservice, and how the problems we have tried to solve by jumping to one extreme is really a human one
- AST-transformation techniques and source-code manipulation
Outside of programming content, I'm interested in
- Eastern religions
- Permaculture principles and terraforming
- Psychology, social engagement and community building
I also enjoy hiking, running, camping and dancing to sick beats ;)
You can find me on non-commercial social platforms like Mastodon. I have several accounts there, but my two main handles are @percipio@ruby.social and @chriscz@social.linux.pizza. Lastly, I'm also on GitHub.
